Phocea Scuba diving centre

Phocea is located in the heart of Playa del Carmen, with direct access to the beach, just in front of Plaza Hotel.

Phocea is a PADI Gold Palm IDC Centre, the highest regognition level in scuba diving, what ensures you safe supervised trainings by professionals. Phocea is also an Ambassador Centre of the « Charte Longitude 181 ».

The centre is a « Whale Shark Project » partner, i-e it helps as much as possible to mark whale sharks and study their migratory roads. Each year, we thoroughly participate to PROJECT A.W.A.R.E. cleaning beaches and coral reefs.

Centre’s equipment

Everything here has been designed to welcome you in the best way in order to accompany you in your scuba diving professional training. We have at disposal:

• A conference room
• 2 class-rooms equipped with video tools
• A cloakroom, showers and lavatories
• A swimming pool
• A premiss where we store the gear
• A fresh water tub of rinsing
• Direct access to the boats from the beach, less than 30 meters away from the centre.

Phocea Mexico turns into CDC & Tec Rec center!

CDC is an abbreviation that maybe you have never heard of, but it has been making us more than happy for a few days ! In the scuba diving world, CDC is label delivered by PADI that means « Career Development Center ». This is the highest recognition granted to the best PADI dive centers dedicated to the Scuba Instructors training. Very few centers are lucky enough to be granted this reward, and we are now the second center in Mexico to obtain it ! The eligibility criterias for the CDC centre status are very strict. That makes us even prouder to have it now. First, you must be an IDC center ( Instructor Development Center), what we were already. Then, we have been evaluated on the quality of service offered to certified divers as well as to student divers. You must also have certified at least 48 divers at OWSI level (Scuba Instructor) during the last 24 months. That was the case with more than 70 certifications on this period. Moreover, we had to present a catalog rich in different programs for diving professional training. On that matter, we have always centered our training to the Scuba Instructor occupation on the environmental conservation and the opportunity to work on an ecological project. Our 4 sectors offer a complete experience to instructors that we are happy to train. The first one is mostly generalist and focused on management and Training and diving activities. We integrate in this one the IDC and the EFRI, with also basic knowledge for a dive center management, modules of marketing, management and specific organization in the scuba diving sector.

Our second option is focused on Cenotes, so tipical in Yucat1an region. This training allows to begin with cavern and cave diving, beyond the Instructor level. The third option overpasses the limits of recreational diving, integrating a TecDeep training, beyond the IDC session. If you are interested in deep dives with decompression, you can also become a Trimix dive rand discover new horizons. Lastly, the fourth and last option offers a specialization in Tec diving, with a Full Cave and Tec Deep diver certification. Just also know that participating to any of our trainings you will receive a special « Career Development Center » certification card.

As good news never come alone, we have also been certified as a PADI Tec Rec center, what means that PADI recommends us to divers for Tec Rec trainings, from Tec 40 to Trimix. We are the only center in mexico to have been granted this recognition. After 6 years of work and pleasure to share our passion with you, we are very proud to obtain these certifications that highlight our expertise in all scuba diving sectors.
